How much do we know about the world around us when we close our eyes? "Sensorium" offers students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in a world of sensations, where sight recedes to give way to other senses. Our interactive tour in complete darkness will help children develop empathy, understand diversity, and discover new emotions.

Program description

During the excursion, students:

Will dive into 5 interactive rooms: living room, museum, market, city street, and café
Will develop other senses - relying on hearing, touch, smell, and taste
Will get to know cultural values - will hear folk songs, recognize Latvian symbols, learn about the most significant objects in Latvia
Will learn interactively: Interaction with the environment promotes active learning and curiosity

Prices and conditions

Group size: Up to 30 students, divided into 3 or 4 groups of 8–10 students
Languages: Tours are conducted in Latvian, Russian and English
Duration: Approximately 90 minutes
Price on weekdays: 18 EUR/person -15% until 31.12
Price on weekends: 19 EUR/person -15% until 31.12
For teachers and adult companions: Free

How does the excursion take place?

Students, together with an experienced guide, embark on a journey through various spaces in complete darkness, developing their senses and exploring the world anew. After the excursion, students have the opportunity to ask questions and share their impressions.

How does payment work using the support of the Latvian school bags?

The ticket price is 18 EUR/person, which can be partially or fully covered by the "Latvijas skolas soma" funding. -15% until 31.12
After the visit, we issue an invoice to the school for the amount covered by the "Latvian School Bag"
The school submits the invoice to its municipality according to the amount of funding
For schools in Riga, we submit invoices through the eriga.lv portal, which simplifies the process
The remaining amount can be paid on-site in cash or via bank transfer

We had to understand where we were, realize what kind of room it was, what kind of furniture - everything had to be felt. We were also in a shop, and it was difficult to understand some items that we use every day. But overall, we understood everything, found everything, and want to confidently recommend everyone to visit this place. You will like it very, very much!

It was so strange when we entered the darkness - at first, it even hurt our eyes, but then we began to acclimatise, and it became increasingly interesting. The aim of the project is to identify and test optimal solutions for the establishment and development of social enterprises, including support for social enterprises focused on job integration, in order to increase employment opportunities for unemployed individuals in a disadvantaged situation, persons with disabilities, and individuals with mental health issues.

The company "Sensorium" has received social enterprise status, an ALTUM EU grant, as well as completed the "New Door" social entrepreneurship accelerator, the "Antistartup" accelerator, and gained recognition in the SEB bank grant competition for social enterprise ideas "It will grow well 2020", and also reached the finals of "It will grow well 2022" and "Upward 2022".
